Miami Swim Week began in 2002 when several runway producers decided to hold swimwear runway shows to coincide with Miami’s fabled swimwear trade show, SwimShow. Fashion behemoth IMG was the anchor producer for years until they left the market in 2016.
Today several producers create shows during the time of year known as Miami Swim Week.
If you’re visiting as industry or press, you’ll need to register with the various producers.
Model Casting
Generally, model castings only happen a couple of weeks before the shows, i.e. in early July. However, casting announcements may happen several weeks before. A good tip is to check out the list of Miami Swim Week producers, then follow them closely on social media. Often that’s where the announcements will appear.

⚠️ Advisories for Models and Designers
Models: We do not recommend paying to walk during fashion week. There are plenty of established and legitimate fashion week producers where you can find casting information and either be paid to walk, or (at the very least) walk for free in exchange for videos and photos of the show for your portfolio.
Designers: Is there an “official” / “trademarked” Miami Swim Week? Read about the trademark dispute here.
