Miami Swim Week began in 2002 when several runway producers decided to hold swimwear runway shows to coincide with Miami’s fabled swimwear trade show, SwimShow. Fashion behemoth IMG was the anchor producer for years until they left the market in 2016.
Today several producers create shows during the time of year known as Miami Swim Week.
Last year’s shows took place in mid-July, except for Paraiso, who moved their shows to June.
Generally, model castings only happen a couple of weeks before the shows, i.e. in early July. However, casting announcements may happen several weeks before. A good tip is to check out the list of Miami Swim Week producers, then follow them closely on social media. Often that’s where the announcements will appear.
